Born in New York City, Robert Jones spent his formative
years in Spain where he began playing guitar at age 13. Robert's unique
style of playing can be traced back to those years in Spain where he
immersed himself in a variety of styles including classical, jazz,
pop, traditional Spanish and Flamenco.
After working professionally in Europe for a number of years, Robert
relocated back to New York where he spent his time studying at Brooklyn
College, performing with local bands and composing original material.
In the 1990s, Robert moved to Northern California and expanded upon
his musical career by adding teaching to his many musical endeavors.
It was here that he decided to focus on solo performance, developing
a unique musical style.
Today Robert is active as an instructor, composer and performer. His
distinctive interpretations on acoustic and electric guitars often
propel well-known melodies into new exciting territories. Audiences
are fascinated by his innovative use of the looping technique, a process
that creates the sound of 2 or 3 guitar players at once. Robert offers
a playing style that combines the familiar with the new, pleasing listeners
and showcasing the talents of a master musician.
